Come Along For the Ride

@everesting #11 complete, but it doesn't seem to g @everesting #11 complete, but it doesn't seem to get any easier, even though this one was virtual, on @gozwift ‘s Mont Ventoux. I'd planned to Everest the real version back in the summer of 2020 and my base in Bedoin was booked and paid for, but Covid scuppered that. Then Zwift developed the virtual equivalent and I decided that I might as well open 2021 with a significant ride of some sort. The first three reps went well, but predictably, the fourth was harder and by the fifth, I was losing my appetite and generally feeling rubbish! As my speed dropped, so my self imposed torture was prolonged: vicious circle! All the doubts crept back at this point and the ride became an exercise in chimp management, amongst other things! I've decided recently that long and relatively steep climbs like Ventoux are probably the hardest type to Everest, for me at least. The amount of prolonged effort (it's a 6 x 2hr+ climb) is just crazy and I think this is a significant contributor to how I tend to feel in the final third of these rides i.e. bad! I think I can safely say that this will probably be my last virtual Everesting - I'll be sticking to the real world from now on! #everesting #zwift #hells500 #assosofswitzerland #assosldn #assosspeedclub #veveresting

Lockdown 3.0 encapsulated in a single image? One f Lockdown 3.0 encapsulated in a single image? One from the archives - maybe 30 years ago, when I spent (a lot of) time in a different type of Lycra 😉 I’d just fallen off something on Derbyshire’s Higgar Tor and was sitting at the bottom with my head in my hands, wondering whether to try again, or head for the pub? In the end I tried again and sent it 😅 #peakdistrict #fuckcovid19 #higgartor #rockclimbing #gritstone #thebmc #boreal
